Random Thoughts in Sports

What' up bloggers!!

So as I was sitting at work I was reading ESPN online and came across an interesting article. It is discussing whether or not we should pay student athletes in college. Here is my take on the matter....in a way we do already pay the athletes. Most of them recieve college scholarships that cover if not all most of their college expenses. Plus the program pays for all their travel fees and equipment. So instead of them getting a steady paycheck as the athletes in the pros they recieve free education. Seems like they both would come to the same cost. Not all schools are a service school like Army, Navy, and Air Force where they pay their athletes a small stipend for playing but as I read in the article they pay all their students the same stipend so they are not singling out the athletes. We need to remember that techinaclly they may not be "ameteurs" they are still in school and that is their reason for being there, when they move on to the pros then they are there to be paid and whatever sport is their life.

Now a fun prediction for you. I was reading in the NFC West blog on ESPN online that they are predicting my Rams to be a dominating team. Well that is music to my ears. I love that people are not only recognizing the talent of Rookie of the Year, Sam Bradford, but its a true underdog story. The Rams went from being the worst team in the NFL to fighting for the chance to make it to the playoffs this year....thanks Pete Carroll for crushing my playoff dreams. But really once this lock out ends I see nothing but great things for my Rams! :)

I would also like to congratulate Japan's own Womens Soccer World Cup Champions, way to go ladies! Although I would have loved to see the World Cup trophy home I am very impressed with how classy our ladies handled themselves. They represented the country wonderfully, they should be so proud!

Well in exciting news for me, I have now made it my personal goal to get a tshirt from every MLB, NFL, and NBA team....wish me luck on this!!

That about wraps it up for me, I will be heading to St. Louis soon and will be able to watch my favorite MLB team play! I'll give y'all great information following the game!! Looking forward to it!

Do you BELIEVE in miracles?!

Hey Bloggers,

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with my blog lately, I promise to keep it updated! So many exciting events have been happening in the sports world lately which brings me to the title of my blog, "Do you BELIEVE in miracles?!" It's a common phrase that is most popular from the 1980 U.S. hockey teams defeat over the highly favored Soviet Union hockey team! Such a chilling moment in US sports history!! I think a miracle in sports is such an excellent thing to experience. You are able to feel like for that moment you are apart of that sports franchise victory and success. So speaking of miracles..............

Congrats to the Dallas Mavericks on their FIRST NBA CHAMPIONSHIP in their franchise history. Although I am in no way a Maverick fan nor will I ever be but I really really hate Lebron and I knew this whole "3 Musketeer" thing wouldn't work so, I TOLD YOU SO! But really this is truly a great moment for Dallas so congrats on that!

We also had the speedy recovery of Albert Pujols, yay! That's just happiness to me because I will be watching him play at the end of the month, number 1 in our division! Here we come World Series!!!!

Also, in very recent events USA WOMENS SOCCER ADVANCE TO SEMIS! This is truly a remarkable moment for the team, having dealt with an injury throughout the game, going into overtime because of a last second goal in regular time, and finally winning the PK's!! This is so wonderful for our country and we are so proud of our athletes! France is going down!

My final miracle is one near and dear to my heart. We have a new, as the boys at work call it, "Royal Couple" hailing in Norman. Thats's right. Oklahoma's own quarterback Landry Jones and Oklahoma Women's Basketball star Whitney Hand are engaged! He popped the question at a family bbq. He posted the words marry me on the fence in front of all! Such a gentleman, we look forward to successful seasons from both of them and an even happier life together. Oklahoma is so proud!

Well that covers my scoop for now! Looking forward to football season, I guarantee there will be a lot for me to say! Do you BELIEVE in miracles?! I do!
